Fat Dog
Fronted by the enigmatic Joe Love (vocals, guitar), the band also includes Chris Hughes (keyboards, synths), Morgan Wallace (saxophone, keyboards), Michael Dunlop (bass), Jacqui Wheeler (bass) and Johnny “Doghead” Hutch (drums), whose signature on-stage dog mask has become a visual trademark of their riotous shows. Despite their original vow to never feature a saxophone, Fat Dog now proudly flaunts one!
In 2023 Fat Dog released their debut single “King of the Slugs”, a sprawling 7-minute techno-punk anthem co-produced by James Ford, which earned a place on NME’s “50 Best Songs of the Year”. Their debut album “WOOF.”, released in September 2024, blends electro-punk, rave, rock’n’roll, and industrial pop into what frontman Joe Love calls “screaming-into-a-pillow music.” Unapologetically raw and euphoric, “WOOF.” confirms Fat Dog as one of the most inventive and disruptive forces on the scene. Influenced by everything from punk to techno to video game soundtracks like Serious Sam, Fat Dog made their US debut at SXSW 2024, following standout performances at End of the Road Festival, Borderline Dublin, and DIY Magazine’s “Class of 2024” launch show. Described by NME as “2023’s wildest live band” Fat Dog have supported acts such as Viagra Boys, Yard Act, and Sports Team, before selling out Scala in London on their first headline tour.
