Röyksopp

Röyksopp

Röyksopp are a Norwegian electronic music duo from Tromsø formed in 1998 by childhood friends Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland. Their first album ‘Melodi A.M.’, released in 2001 peaked at number one in Norway and the second studio album ‘The Understanding’ (2005) gained critical acclaim and popularity around the world. Their original music videos combined with elaborate concert performances, which often feature eccentric outfits, made them recognisable and unique in the music sphere. To date, Röyksopp has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, performed worldwide tours, and produced albums that have topped the global charts. Their newest project ‘Profound Mysteries’, released in 2022, consists of 30 musical numbers united in the album triptych. Röyksopp describes this ‘conceptual project’ as an ‘expanded creative universe’ and a ‘continuous, holistic experience’ which combines music with surreal and oblique multimedia that grapples with the unknowability of the universe.
