INmusic Festival #18 Showcases Marijan Molnar’s Work and a Sustainable Collaboration with TTF

Throughout its previous editions, INmusic Festival has shown that it is not only a music event, but also a space where the community gathers around progressive social and cultural values. As part of this year’s jubilee artistic programme, festival visitors will once again be introduced to compelling artistic content through a collaboration with artist Marijan Molnar and students of the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb.

This year’s artistic feature at INmusic Festival is dedicated to the re‑imagining of the well‑known work For the Democratization of Art by renowned Croatian conceptual artist Marijan Molnar. A graduate painter and an active participant in the Zagreb art scene centred around Podrum and the PM Gallery, Molnar’s work continuously questions the context of artistic practice and its impact on society. For the Democratization of Art began in October 1977 at Republic Square in Zagreb, where the artist invited passers-by to sign a manifesto that adopted and paraphrased contemporary political rhetoric in order to critique the role of art in society and encourage direct communication with the public. By stepping outside gallery walls into an open, communicative public space, Molnar sought to highlight the importance of action, accessibility, and direct dialogue between artists, art, and the audience. By presenting this historically significant work in a contemporary light on the screens of the festival’s main stages between concert performances, INmusic Festival continues to emphasize the importance of authentic local artistic practices that call for active participation and engagement rather than passive observation.

Alongside its artistic programme, the festival continuously invests in collaboration with educational institutions and younger generations, aiming to provide a platform for work, learning, and creative expression. Inspired by one of the festival’s most recognizable earlier collaborations — the festival flags designed by students and made from repurposed materials, which have since become a visual symbol of INmusic — the festival is taking a new step towards sustainable creation this year.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb, the festival is implementing a circular‑economy project focused on material reuse. TTF students have designed and crafted three products from repurposed festival tarpaulins: a backpack, a laptop sleeve, and a small pouch. Each item is handmade, and its label will feature the name of the student who created it. In this way, the festival not only reduces waste but also provides visibility to the work of future Croatian designers.

All products from this limited, environmentally sustainable series will be available at the official festival merch stand. Alongside the student creations, the stand will also feature the official festival merchandise designed by Teo Peter. To mark the festival’s twentieth anniversary, Peter has prepared two special T‑shirt designs for this year’s edition. In addition to INmusic’s official merch, visitors will also be able to purchase merchandise from the artists performing at this year’s festival.

INmusic Festival #18 will take place from 22 to 24 June 2026 at Zagreb’s Lake Jarun. Three‑day tickets are available via the official INmusic webshop at the price of 159 EUR (+ transaction fees), while a limited number of single‑day tickets for the festival’s opening day is still available exclusively through the official festival webshop. Seven‑day camping tickets are also on offer at 59 EUR (+ transaction fees), valid only together with a three‑day festival ticket.
