Beloved Silent Disco Gets a Cinematic Counterpart – INmusic festival #17 Introduces the New Silent Cinema Program!

INmusic festival #17 proudly presents Silent Cinema – a new daytime program delivering an innovative short film experience, set in the very same space where Silent Disco takes over at night. The program is created in collaboration with three relevant and internationally acclaimed festivals – Animafest, ZagrebDox, and the Human Rights Film Festival!
Each festival day of the seventeenth edition of INmusic festival, from 5 PM to 9 PM, is reserved for Silent Cinema – a brand-new addition that uses the well-known wireless headphone and multichannel sound technology, already familiar to festivalgoers thanks to the evening Silent Disco. Three simultaneous programs, three audio channels, wireless headphones, and total freedom of choice – a proven formula now expanded with three cinema screens!
In collaboration with three relevant and internationally acclaimed Croatian film festivals – Animafest, ZagrebDox, and the Human Rights Film Festival – Silent Cinema presents a diverse lineup of curated programs covering animation, documentary, social themes, and children’s content. Each block has been carefully curated by the partner festival teams, ensuring strong authorial voices and thematic depth.
The World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb, founded in 1972, is the second-oldest film festival dedicated entirely to animation. For INmusic festival’s seventeenth edition, Animafest presents three program blocks. Audiences will get the chance to watch award-winning films from the festival’s current edition, which is still underway. The That’s What She Said vol. 2. block features works by female directors from Central and Eastern Europe, created in collaboration with festivals from the Animation Festival Network. The third block, Baker Boris and Friends, is designed for younger viewers and offers a selection of short animated stories that gently explore important topics such as emotions, dreams, and community through warmth and creativity.
The Human Rights Film Festival is a non-profit project launched in 2002 by two key independent cultural organizations – the Multimedia Institute and the Association for the Development of Culture URK. Its goal is to raise visibility around human rights issues through the medium of film. At INmusic, HRFF brings a lineup that tackles major social topics head-on – from the dramatic thriller Banija, to the experimental Postcards and the beloved animated short Hedgehog’s Home, the program invites audiences to watch with open eyes and listen with open minds. Through emotion, irony, and critique, these films challenge viewers to think actively rather than watch passively. For over two decades, HRFF has stood as a key regional platform connecting cinema with civil society and promoting a culture of human rights through film.
The ZagrebDox International Documentary Film Festival joins INmusic with a lineup of engaging, entertaining, and memorable short documentaries. Some of the world’s finest documentary films have found a home on Zagreb’s cinema scene for over twenty-one years – and now it’s time they visit Jarun! ZagrebDox and INmusic come together through the Silent Cinema program, showcasing documentaries from across the globe. The signature touch of ZagrebDox’s curatorial vision guarantees an exceptional cinematic contribution to Croatia’s largest music festival.
As night falls, the space once again transforms into Silent Disco, a longtime favorite among festivalgoers. With the DJ booth once again hosted by the crew from KSET, the audience gets a second chance each day to choose between three channels – three sonic worlds, three moods.
With the addition of Silent Cinema, curated by renowned film festivals, the program of INmusic festival #17 expands beyond its already impressive music lineup, which features global icons such as Air, Kasabian, Massive Attack, Fontaines D.C., Michael Kiwanuka, St. Vincent, The Streets, Kim Deal, Foster the People, Yard Act, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, The Murder Capital, YARD, and many more. Three-day festival tickets for INmusic festival #17 are available for just €119 (+ transaction fees) via the official festival webshop, alongside seven-day camping tickets priced at €59 (+ transaction fees).
