Reykjavíkurdætur

Delivering razor sharp lyrics and immune to haters and hypocrisy alike, Reykjavíkurdætur are making their Croatian live debut at INmusic's Hidden stage!

Reykjavíkurdætur, whose name translates to ''The Daughters of Reykjavik'' is an all-female hip-hop group from Iceland. Their appearance on stage can be summed up as both shocking and impressive. Reykjavíkurdætur was formed in 2013 by three girls but the number of members of this extraordinary group has in the meantime increased to sixteen. These talented rappers are known for their daring lyrics that tackle with, among other things, politics, feminism, and sexual abuse. Hailing from Iceland, their song ''Drusla'' translated as ''Slut'' was the hymn of the Icelandic sluts' march and a public critique of the social practice of slut-shaming. It's no surprise that the audience reception of their lyrics and their performances is rather favourable abroad, unlike the more hostile reception back home. Reykjavíkurdætur like to make their on-stage performances dynamic by rapping in solos, duos, trios and sometimes all sixteen together. Their first single ''Reykjavíkurdætur'' came out in 2013 and is part of their first album RVK DTR that was published in 2016. The girls will be performing in front of the Croatian audience for the first time as the newest addition to the INmusic #13 line-up. It is safe to say that Croatia had never seen anything like it.

Reykjavíkurdætur are passionate fighters not only for women's rights but for contemporary music and culture as well. Led by that mission they will be performing as part of the praiseworthy Europavox project. INmusic festival is the proud Croatian partner of the Europavox project, an European Commission funded long term collaboration project between seven European countries, dedicated to the promotion of European musical diversity and providing an international and interactive live music experience.
