TV on the Radio
TV ON THE RADIO, US alternative rock group from Brooklyn come to T-Mobile INmusic! The band will present a new album, to be released March. One of those bands that have been long awaited is joining so far announced Arcade Fire (Grammy and Brit Awards winners 2011) and Grinderman.
TV On The Radio have been regularly occupying high positions on music charts. Their first studio album "Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes" have been awarded Shortlist Music Prize, the second album "Return to Cokkie Mountain", a very well judged by the music criticism, have been the second best album of the year by Pitchfork 2006, while the third album "Dear Science" from 2008 was the choice of Rolling Stone magazine, selected as the album of the year in competition with artists like Bob Dylan, Beck and others. Besides by the Rolling Stone "Dear Science" was the album of the year according to the Guardian, Pitchfork and Spin Magazine.
In February 2011, the band announced an end to their hiatus, along with their upcoming album, Nine Types of Light, a lush and beautiful album that stands apart from the group's previous work. If their other albums had shades of dystopia and distress, this album, sung by Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone, is filled with songs about longing and love. "I like love songs. There's nothing particularly interesting going on with me in my life to bear this work. I like the forms of love songs, the poetry." Kyp adds that though there might be more "positivity" on this album, it wasn't an overall conceit they set out to do. "We've attempted to work on themes before but they fall apart very quickly. More organic versions arise because we're sharing time or space or communication."
Performance at this year's INmusic Festival will mark 10 years of playing and 10 years from their first demo edition "OK Calculator", released independently. More news about the fresh album, titled "Nine Types of Light" expect in March 2011, just a couple of months before their first performance in Croatia at INmusic festival!
