THE STREETS
The Streets are the newest addition to the already impressive line-up of theINmusic festival 2011. After relasing his final album Computer and Blues and officially retiring The Streets, Mike Skinner announced a tour to promote his fifth album including a show in Zagreb.
Mike Skinner, aka the Streets, is a British rapper, musician and record producer from Birmingham. At the end of 2000, he earned his first release when Locked On - already known for the collaboration with bands such as the Artful Dodger and Craig David signed him for the homemade Has It Come to This?. Has It Come to This?" proved to be a breakthrough hit for The Streets, reaching number 18 on the UK charts in October 2001. In the UK, the album was nominated for the Mercury Prize, The NME listed it among their top five albums of 2002, while the band was nominated for best album, best urban act, best breakthrough artist and best British male artist in the 2002 BRIT Awards.
After a quiet 2003, Skinner returned with A Grand Don't Come for Free, a record that pushed his production and performance eccentricities to a new level, but also resulted in critical praise, just like his next two albums: 2006's The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living and Everything is Borrowed which followed in 2008.
On 7 February 2011, Mike Skinner officially retired the Streets which coincided with the release of 'Computers and Blues' - The Streets fifth and final album.
